Repatriation of Late King Oyo’s Body Rescheduled

The repatriation of the remains of the late Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, has been rescheduled from Thursday to Friday, September 4, 2026.

According to a revised program released by the Tooro Kingdom, the body is expected to land at Entebbe International Airport on Friday morning, where President Yoweri Museveni will officially receive the remains and pay his final respects.

The body will subsequently be airlifted by helicopter to Kyegegwa District before being transported by open-road carrier to Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal City, allowing subjects along the route to pay their last respects to the fallen monarch.

Mourners continue to gather at the Karuziika Palace as traditional rites and mourning preparations proceed across the kingdom.

 The body was said to arrive tomorrow Thursday but unfortunately that has changed and all will be done differently.

His people are eagerly waiting for his body so that they can mourn while they wait to lay him to rest after the nine days.

There is also many questions about the heir as some people claim he left a son behind while the clan elders say he didn’t leave any child.

King Oyo will be given a national send off and President Museveni will also take part as he promised the kingdom and people of Tooro.
