What are Search Engines? 

First things first, search engines refer to the mediums/platforms where one can go and type in their query on the internet and they get results. So, currently we have many search engines that include Google, Bing, Yahoo and many others.

Install the Required Plugins

In this case, you will have to go to your WordPress dashboard and install an SEO plugin called Yoast or Rank Math or All in One SEO or even your plugin of your choice. This will help you to run the first tests to see how compatible your website is.

Install Site Kit or Monster Insights

Site Kit or Monster Insights are tools used to display the traffic that comes to you website, these pick data from Google Analytics which measures all types of traffic that goes to the site. This will help you to understand that your website picks traffic and is well monitored.

Search Console

Then you have a task of opening a search console account under the email that is associated to your website. You will have to then go back to Yoast under Site Features and extract the what we call sitemaps. Under the XML Sitemaps.

Submit sitemaps

Go back to your Yoast dashboard and check for search engines on the list and past them one by one as you confirm whether they have worked. After this, your search console will have started to pick your website traffic as displayed in Google analytics.

After all that is done, go back to the website and open a new tab, type in your domain and search for your website. When you see that Analytics has picked you as a visitor, just know you are all set to roll. For Search Console, Site Kit, Monster Insights they start picking figures after 48 hours at least.

And by the end of a few days, you will notice that your website appears in search engines when only its name is typed in them and you will be good to go now.

Find Keywords

Keywords are those terms that are added to posts on websites in order to improve in search engine rankings for those terms particular words. For example, let us assume you have a story about “how to drive a Tesla for beginners,” the keyword is Tesla because it is the center of the title and every query online can be rotating about a Tesla.

Include the Keywords in Your Title

Well, after you have pointed out your keywords, you must make sure they are included in your title and they must not be repeated in the same title. They have to appear only once there. This gives the google a logarithm to quickly priotize your story since it gets rotated about when readers make queries online.

Keywords in the First Paragraph

Make sure that you have structured well your first paragraph and it is a must to include your keywords in the first paragraph. This should not only be the first paragraph, but also in the first two lines of your first paragraph or your intro of the story.

Keyword Count

Take careful not at this point, you MUST make sure that your keyword is appearing in the story for a minimum of Three times throughout. That is if the story is below 400 characters, and beyond that, it should appear more than Three times and remember not to over optimize by making the keywords too much in the story.

Meta Description

You must have a clear and precise meta description to make a great Search Engine Optimization. This doe not only stop at doing a met description, but also you must make sure that your keyword appears in the meta description.

More to this, it should not exceed 150 characters, that is why I said that it should be precise and to the point. For example, if a story is about “how to fly an aeroplane in three simple steps” let your meta description look like “These are the ultimate three major simple steps to help you fly an aero plane without any difficulties,”

Here you see that we have covered a lot of the possible queries that may arise from readers, like; can i fly an aeroplane without difficulties?, how can i fly an aeroplane?, all this will lead you to the story because it all rotates on the aeroplane and it talks about flying it.

Internal and External linking

This part is mostly ignored by people, and it is very important in helping to do a great Search Engine Optimization. Internal linking means that you have your previous stories on your website highlighted and embedded in certain words of the current story you are optimizing.

For example, if in your story body you have a word like camping, you can highlight it and embed a previous or old story that you wrote some time back that is about camping. This helps alogarithm to quickly connect the dots in your story and priotize it in search.

The same can be done for the external linking, but here it is a link you can embed in your story or post that is from another outside source. For example, you have a story talking about the effects of Facebook to the society, and you get the url of Facebook and embed it under Facebook in your story.

Lastly but not least, remember to add an image to your post as a featured image and so that it gives a true meaning to your post. It is advised to make your own images if possible and name them linking them to your post and include your website name in it under the alt text and title.
