His first term in Parliament was under the opposition political party National Unity Platform (NUP) which he had a landslide victory.

Although Hon Ssewanyana was determined to serve his people fully, he was again overshadowed because of the arrest that left him in prison for two years.

According to the MP, he is seeking another term to work for his people like he wanted to in the previous term despite being denied a chance to fully serve them.

At his nomination, Hon Ssewanyana said that Makindye West needs genuine representation and criticizes the capacity of some opponents. After spending two years in prison, Ssewanyana says he is more committed than ever to serving his constituents.

“I Once again thank the people of Makindye west for duly nominating me again as there member of parliament in the next parliament. I will continue serving you with all my heart,”

Hon Ssewanyana aaa supported by other political figures including Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago who showed up at the campaign Launch.
