Ugandan international footballer left back Aziz Kayondo has opened up about his experience in the Israeli league in 2023.
He was loaned to a club known as Hapoeli Tel Aviv from a Spanish club Leganese. Unfortunately he didn’t play for a long time in Israel as the war broke out.
According to the footballer, it was a normal day when the bombings started and they rushed them into a safe house.
As a person who wasn’t a citizen, he immediately tried to find his way out of the country knowing things could get out of control. He said that he called his manager to help him because all the flights were grounded

Aziz Kayondo explained that being in this experience was the most terrifying one as he knew he could lose his life any time.
“I’ve played football in several countries, but my time in Israel was unforgettable; war broke out suddenly, football stopped, and I spent the night in a safe house, unsure of what would happen next. After a night in a safe house during the conflict in Israel, I knew I had to leave. I called my manager for help, flights were grounded, and the region was paralyzed by war. It was a terrifying moment in my career,” Aziz Kayondo, International Footballer
