NEC FC secured a hard fought 2-1 victory against Kitara FC at the Royal Park in Butema, Hoima, with midfielder Enock Ssebagala playing a pivotal role in the match. Ssebagala broke the deadlock in the 50th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box.
Kitara responded swiftly, equalizing six minutes later through a penalty kick by Living Kabon, awarded after Denis Omedi was fouled in the box. The winning goal came from substitute Gaddafi Wahab, assisted by the impressive Ssebagala. This victory propels NEC to the top of the Uganda Premier League table with six points.
NEC FC coach Hussein Mbalangu praised his team’s resilience, highlighting their determination to control the game from the outset. He acknowledged the challenging nature of the match but expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance.
Kitara, despite playing their first game back in Hoima, struggled to find their rhythm. Their coach, Brian Ssenyondo, admitted that the team faltered under pressure and failed to execute their game plan. He emphasized the need for improvement in upcoming matches.
